About Gladys Tan
(Gladys with her first Sheltie, Pico)
Gladys Tan fell in love with capturing the expressions and moments of her first pet in her life, LemonTea, a red tabby kitty. She posted and shared her little precious’ daily life pictures on her blog. She started from a self-taught amateur by reading books and surfing online for photography theories and tips from the professionals. Later on she attended some 1-day classes for the basics.
Her hard work has paid off. Gladys’ has been improving fast on her photography skill. And her works attracted some dog owners’ attentions and she was asked to commission to capture their pets’ pictures. She has started from capturing pet portraits with natural outdoor sunlights, to studio photography with artificial studio lightings. She has also worked together with several pet magazines and the local kennel club as their official photographer. She had been the official photographer of Malaysia Rottweiler specialty show and Dobermann specialty show. She also covered All Breed dog conformation ringside shots, where she obtained her new hobby of dog conformation show handling and love for Shetland Sheepdogs afterwards.
In December 2008, she upgraded her entry-level DSLR camera to full-frame DSLR camera. Her photography studio, Gladys Studio was founded in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in September 2009.
In 2011, she relocated her studio to Johor Bahru, a city where she was born and raised in. Now she is living here with her supportive husband, the cats and the Shetland Sheepdogs.
She enjoys her job very much and strongly believes that she will carry on this until the last moment of her life.
